Mosquito Control

 

McDermott Aviation has been carrying out aerial application of mosquito larvicides since 1984.  During this time, we have helped with the establishment of mosquito control programmes for various local authorities from Gold Coast City through to Hervey Bay.  We are the only company in Australia dedicated and equipped to offer a complete and professional aerial application program for mosquito vector control. 

We are the longest established mosquito control aerial applicators, with over 19 years experience and a well proven track record for reliability, efficiency and the ability to get the job done!  McDermott Aviation helped develop and improve aerial application of sand based larvicides and insect growth regulators to enable very low, accurate application rates.  We have been instrumental in testing and proving new formulations and techniques for aerial application of new mosquito control agents, particularly ULV application of liquid larvicides and B.T.I.'s.

McDermott Aviation has 'long term' contracts with many government bodies/authorities, including: Gold Coast City Council, Brisbane City Council, Redland Bay CC, Caloundra CC, Maroochy Shire Council, Noosa Shire Council, Hervey Bay CC, QLD Department of Primary Industries, QLD Forestry department and numerous other government departments.

McDermott Aviation, along with Brisbane City Council's Mosquito & Pest control has been contracted to carry out aerial mosquito control for the Sydney Olympic Committee at Home Bush, NSW. For the past four years we have worked together to make this a very successful and highly regarded operation in what is possibly one of the most demanding and sensitive areas in Australia!!

McDermott Aviation was also called in at extremely short notice to provide mosquito control for the Townsville floods in January 1998. Once again this was carried out with complete professionalism and efficiency, resulting in possibly preventing a major out break of mosquito born virus.

We were the first company in Australia (perhaps the World??) to introduce and use Differential GPSGuidance Systems for aerial application of mosquito larvicides.

The company's fleet is specifically set up for aerial application, including DGPS, smoke generating units and application monitoring equipment.  We are usually able to provide 2 or more helicopters to a worksite where required.
