Bell 205-A1/Bell 205-A++

McDermott Aviation operate 2 Bell 205’s, both are slightly different. Similar to the legendary Bell UH1 series helicopter, the Bell 205 has that familiar look and sound. Although the outside looks the same, the 205 is packed with a additional safety features that allow operation of this aircraft to carry passengers, unlike the ‘restricted category’ UH1 series.

A single T53-17 engine, and a Bell 212 rotor system powers the Bell 205 A++, and with the fuel endurance of up to 2.5 hrs and a range of 275 nm, makes this helicopter suitable for carrying out Aerial Lifting, Fire Fighting and Charter. The Bell 205-A1, whilst having a slightly smaller engine, can carry out identical operations, but becomes limited at high altitude or in excessive temperatures, thus allowing the 205-A++ an upper hand, especially when fire fighting in extreme temperature.

The lifting capacity of the Bell 205 A1/A++ is up to1400 kg on the hook, making it excellent for heavy lift construction work.

When the Bell 205-A1/Bell 205-A++ is tasked carrying out Fire Fighting, it can be fitted with either a 1380 ltr ‘ISOLAIR’ water bombing tank or a under-slung bucket, with a capacity of up to 1500 ltr.

With the passenger capacity of up to 9 people, this aircraft can also be used for Charter, which is a cost effective way to move staff to and from isolated work sites, or to carry out survey flights.

Prior to ALL operations, risk assessments are carried out to ensure safety of our crew, our client, and our cargo. Any ‘High Risk’ activities are covered by a site specific Job Safety and Environmental Analysis (JSEA) and Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS).
